Happy Spring Break

We asked students to continue reading over spring break. At least 30 minutes each and everyday. Nothing improves reading, writing and spelling like reading. Please visit the library and/or bookstore.

Math - please give your child an opportunity to practice money math. Especially grade 5 students. Students can practice counting coins and making change - for example, the candy costs 50 cents - you pay with a $2 - how much change do you get back? How many different ways could you get the change back? We are really working on mental math skills - being able to round, estimate and then compute the answer in your head. A difficult skill but in reality most of the math we do on a daily basis is in our heads!!!

Have a great spring break - limit the screen time and make sure the kids get outside and play. Yesterday all the kids had a tonne of fun playing at Steveston Park.

Thanks
Mrs. Wallace
